CampusLease Safety
What we verify, what we don't, and how to protect yourself while searching.
University verification
Students confirm access to a university email address. CampusLease never asks for a NetID or university password, and verification expires after 12 months.
Listing verification
Separate from user verification. A verified student does not mean a verified listing. Listing verification provides additional trust signals but does not guarantee the property, agreement, safety, or legitimacy.
Safer messaging
Conversations happen on-platform, so you don't have to hand out your phone number or personal email to start a conversation.
Scam reporting
Report any listing or member in two taps. Reports feed a moderation queue that reviews duplicate listings, suspicious pricing, repeated photos, and unusual payment requests.
Before you pay anyone
- • Never send money before independently verifying the property and agreement.
- • Be cautious of pressure to wire money, use gift cards, or send a fast deposit.
- • Tour in person or over video, and ask to see the lease.
- • Report suspicious listings or messages right away.
- • CampusLease does not own, inspect, manage, or guarantee listed properties.
